LEAP! Canada is a multi-phase program developed for Canadian technology companies interested in utilizing San Diego (California) as a market “beachhead” to address commercialization challenges in the U.S.

Canada has built significant research strengths over many years; however Canada has done less well in converting this world-class science and technology R&D into sustained commercial success. LEAP! Canada is designed to address this problem, utilizing the unique characteristics of the San Diego market which have proven world-class commercialization models and represent significant opportunities for Canadian companies. Beginning with a pilot program in Western Canada in the Fall 2009 focused on ICT dual-usage applications, the LEAP! Canada model will look to Eastern Canada in Winter/Spring 2009 to address commercialization opportunities in Clean Technology, Defense & Security, ICT, Life Sciences, and Ocean Technology.
